Outdoor Art Session

Today I met my friend, Aruna, for an outdoor drawing and painting session.
I took art classes in middle school and have always loved doodling and painting, but it's not something I commit to every day.
She messaged me some images ahead of time to consider, so once we were together, we made our choices and got to work.
She is much more serious about the final result than I am.  I'm just enjoying the moment and having fun.  And I have to say, it was very relaxing.  Hours passed by without us even noticing the time.
It was nice to draw and paint birds while listening to birdsong all around us.
I managed another little drawing while she was finishing up.
This colorful little elephant was handpainted by Aruna as a gift for me.
Isn't it lovely?
We had a great time and look forward to planning more creative get-togethers in the future.

Hope you have a wonderful Wednesday!

Hi Tammy,
Looks like a nice way to pass some time in a lovely setting.
Sarah talked me into one of those wine and art classes a few years ago and I did it but it's really out of my comfort zone and I prefer to make art when I'm alone. That's just me - I'm very private when it comes to producing my writing and art. Speaking of though, I haven't drawn in a couple of years and sometimes I think about taking it back up again. I tend to live like that - in spurts. Have to be in the mood, but I know I'll do it again. :)

Love what you created.

What a lovely, lovely way to spend the day. The artwork is absolutely amazing. I can’t even imagine being able to draw like that. It is definitely not one of my talents. That elephant is absolutely gorgeous. What a wonderful gift.
Blessings, Betsy

I love your drawings - and your gift elephant is totally charming! Always enjoy seeing your drawings and paintings. I thought it might be warm enough to draw outdoors one day last week, but I was WRONG! And now the snow is piling up again...

All the paintings are so pretty, and even they weren't, its a process. I've always admired how you find the artistic people in your world. A true gift.

What a delightful time you two had! It is always so much better creating / crafting together with friends. I always get to work alone - my friends are not into crafts so my crafting never gets a company :) Years ago I used to crochet together with my grandma - miss that immensely.

Your paintings and drawings are amazing!

You are really getting good! It amazes me but maybe if I tried once in awhile I would improve? LOL! Lovely! I hope your NY son is okay...they have been getting walloped with storms.

Good morning Tammy, what a wonderful day together you had. Your art is beautiful! You are very good, I love your birds. I wish I could draw better as it would come in handy for my art journal-I should try more with a more open mind.
I enjoyed this lovely post very inspiring

So many painters get their inspiration from the outdoors, either in terms of the subject to paint or just being in the open air. It certainly seems to have worked for the two of you! And the elephant is a stunning gift - will you frame it or hang it as is? Have a jolly weekend!

It surely is a luxury to be able to take time out with a good friend to be creative. It is true that the hours just pass whenever you are doing something you love. It shows that you were truly in the moment. That must be very calming to your soul. Lovely work from both of you.
